Standard Bank Launches URewards to Deliver Real Value for Everyday Banking
Standard Bank Namibia today officially launched URewards, a debit card cash back programme that deposits real money directly into customers’ accounts every month, automatically.
With URewards customers can earn cash back each time they use their Standard Bank Mastercard debit card for everyday transactions, including groceries, fuel, and retail purchases. The cash back is calculated monthly and deposited directly into the customer’s account.
“URewards is about recognising and rewarding our customers in a way that truly matters,” said Nolan Angermund, Head of Products at Standard Bank Personal and Private Banking. “Customers today are looking for value that goes beyond traditional banking. They want simple, transparent solutions that deliver real benefits. By paying rewards directly into customers’ accounts, URewards ensures that value is immediate, accessible and easy to use.”
The programme forms part of Standard Bank’s broader strategy to position itself at the centre of customers’ financial lives by delivering banking solutions that are simple, relevant and value driven. Customers are seamlessly onboarded and can begin earning rewards without needing to change their behaviour, reinforcing ease of use and accessibility.
URewards also supports the bank’s drive towards digital adoption by encouraging customers to transact through secure and convenient digital channels such as the Standard Bank mobile app, further enhancing engagement while rewarding usage.
As economic pressures continue to impact consumers, the programme provides additional support by helping customers stretch their money further through cashback paid directly into their accounts on everyday purchases. This aligns with Standard Bank’s purpose of driving inclusive growth and empowering customers to achieve more.
“URewards is not just a loyalty programme. It is an extension of how we support our customers every day by making banking more rewarding, more relevant and more connected to their needs,” added Angermund.
The URewards launch was accompanied by a brand television commercial that brings the programme’s spirit to life. The advert, titled around the campaign line “Let Life Reward You,” follows Namibians in the moments of everyday living where small acts of banking generate real returns: the fuel stop, the grocery run, the morning routine. Its creative premise is simple: life rewards you in the everyday, and with URewards, Standard Bank does too.
The commercial was directed by Oshoveli Shipoh of StreetLeader Creative, a Namibian production company. Standard Bank Namibia commissioned the work as an expression of its commitment to the creative economy, recognising that Namibian storytelling belongs in Namibian hands. The film champions the limitless potential of Namibians and is grounded in the belief that every Namibian deserves to be seen, celebrated, and rewarded.
Together, URewards and the brand TV ad represent a single, coherent statement from Standard Bank Namibia: that rewarding Namibians, recognising Namibian talent, and investing in Namibian stories are not separate priorities.
