Beware! Fake Emails are making their rounds
It has come to our attention that there is an email making its rounds, which we would like to bring to the attention our clients
Kindly do not trust any e-mail with the content “Automated message from Standard Bank Namibia” or “Notification: Change of email address completed”. These fake emails state that the registered email address has been changed and induce the client to click a link. The clicking of this link prompts one to divulge the internet banking credentials. The link might also compromise your email account. Such a compromise would further allow fraudsters to take control of the email address and send communication on your behalf to the bank, your customer and other parties.
Hence, do not click on the email link and provide any details requested. Such emails as termed as phishing emails which are aimed at ascertaining confidential information such as email account password, internet banking credentials or card details.
It is important to note that Standard Bank will never send its clients an email with a link requesting them to enter confidential information. When in doubt, always consult with your Relationship Manager or branch.
