Standard Bank Namibia takes huge strides connecting Namibian businesses to China through trade agreement

Standard Bank Namibia today launched the Africa-China Trade Solution, a Trade agreement with Chinese company Guomoa. The agreement is a part of Standard Bank’s efforts to evolve as more than a bank and create solutions that puts our clients in a position to be a part of our goal to grow the country by empowering the people.

At Standard Bank, we understand what challenges you may encounter when importing from China. Cross border business practices leave room for scams, faulty goods and the loss of money. We can help you navigate any possible risk with the assistance of our trusted Import Partner in China to ensure seamless end to end cross border trading. Our partnership with the world’s largest bank, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), gives us an unrivalled competitive advantage in Africa-China trade. With ICBC’s financial and global reach and Standard Bank’s deep expertise and heritage in Africa, we can link you to growth opportunities in the African and Chinese economies. Standard Bank’s Africa-China Trade Solutions (ACTS) assists you with cross-border trade requirements from start to finish.

Through ACTS, we assist clients with the following:

  •   Sourcing suppliers & manufacturers.
  •   Sourcing and validating the quality of goods as per the requirements.
  •   Price negotiation based on the quality standard required and the trade conditions on the client’s behalf.
  •   Handling the shipping logistics.
  •  Arranging travel logistics for clients who would like to travel to China and meet with various suppliers &  manufacturers.
  •  Providing a guarantee that the quality of goods from the suppliers recommended meets the required quality          standard. Any failures will be rectified on behalf of clients by our Import Partner.
  •  Providing translators to facilitate trade negotiations and discussions.

Clients that can benefit from ACTS

  • Clients sourcing products from other countries that would like to diversify their supply chains.
  • Clients new to importing products, seeking new ways to optimise business operations.
  •   Even after establishing a relationship with suppliers, clients who lack negotiation power and trade terms are skewed unfavourably in the client’s direction.
  • Ordering online may be cheaper. However, the quality of the goods may not be guaranteed.
  •  Advance payments for goods may need to be made as suppliers often require cash up front, and there is little guarantee  that quality goods will be delivered.

We look forward to the future and the endless possibilities we are going to unlock through this venture. Get in touch for more information on how we can assist with your import needs.
