OUTCOME OF COVID19 TESTS PERFORMED ON WALVIS BAY BRANCH STAFF

Standard Bank refers to its communication of 26 May 2020 in respect of a client who visited its Walvis Bay branch on 12 May 2020 and who later tested positive for COVID-19.

While we ascertained that the client had his temperature checked and was sanitised before entering the branch premises, and also wore a mask throughout his time in our branch, we took a proactive stance to eliminate any doubts and offer peace of mind to our staff, clients, stakeholders and communities.

We disinfected and decontaminated the branch, quarantined and tested all the staff members who had worked in the branch since 12 May 2020, and replaced the entire staff complement with a new team.

We can now confirm that tests performed on all 26 branch staff have returned negative results.

We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 response team as well as the regional and local leadership in the Erongo region for their professional guidance and courtesy in assisting us with managing this difficult situation.

We would also like to express our profound gratitude to our staff and clients for their patience and loyalty in responding to our request for quarantine, tests and additional safety measures at our Walvis Bay branch whilst we waited for the test results.

We reiterate that the safety and well-being of our clients and employees is our foremost priority, as is curbing the spread of COVID-19. We will therefore continue to strictly apply our health and safety protocols at all our facilities across the country, as we have done since the start of the State of Emergency. We see this incident as a further clarion call to further strengthen safety measures at all our facilities.
